episcope

Definition

The cost paid at the moment of delegation. Each time a task and its judgment go to AI, something is given up: practice not taken, a check not run. The transaction is frequently worth making. The tax is whether you knew what you paid.

What is at stake

Debt is unfalsifiable at the horizon that matters and unbuyable for anyone with a quarter to run. A tax is paid per transaction and can be priced against the gain, which is the only version a leader can act on.

Where the word came from

  2. Cognitive debtKosmyna's study, 2025
  3. Reframed as a per-transaction taxepiscope, 2026

How episcope came to it

episcope's framing rather than a coined term. The mechanism it describes is cognitive debt, which keeps its own citation.

What to watch for

The tax is a framing rather than a finding. The measured thing underneath it is cognitive debt, which carries its own study and its own citation.
